Cynthia Morgan, our dear German Juice singer has joined the likes of Seyi Shay and Kiss Daniel.
Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan, was a guest together with Femi Falana (Falz’s dad) on the debut episode of MTV’s Bigger Friday Show hosted by Folarin ‘Falz The Bahd Guy’ Falana.
The Nigerian rapper and dance hall artiste was asked by the show’s hosts, Falz and Samantha Walsh, for the product of the mathematical equation ‘2x2x2/2-2’, at which the 24 year-old responded ‘2×2’ is ‘4’ and ‘4×2’ is ‘6’. What?! Firstly, 4 x 2 should be 8. And the answer to the equation she was given is ‘2’.
Cynthia Morgan isn’t the first celebrity to fail ‘simple’, direct questions on live TV.
Kiss Daniel – born Anidugbe Tobiloba Daniel – who shot to fame with his hit song, Woju, also embarrassed himself on National TV. In an episode of Rubbin’ Minds, a programme hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, he was asked his age. Rather than respond appropriately, Kiss Daniel boldly blurted, “About the age stuff, my team is putting out a press release on that. I would love not to say anything because it’s more than how old I am now.”
Like, really? You need your team to issue a press release for your age?
Seyi Shay, real name Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua went on Hip Tv’s Trending, hosted by Nancy Isime and was asked the full meaning of EP, at which she replied that the acronym meant ‘Electric Package’ when its real meaning was ‘Extended Play’. How could she have failed this question? She’s a singer, a performing artiste who should be better informed about anything music related.
To even make matters worse for her, the 30 year-old who is popular for her song Irawo shared on Instagram arguing that her mistake didn’t mean anything as all that mattered was “making headlines and making money.”
She wrote: “Who EP don epp?? While some are busy trying to figure out what EP really means and making me trend for so long, we are covering papers and making headlines and making MONEEEEYYYY so we can continue this wonderful tour of Africa. We thank God.”
Maybe Cynthia’s mathematical equation ‘2x2x2/2-2’ was a bit tricky for people who aren’t very good with numbers & ‘under pressure’ but ‘4×2 = 6’ is way below par. Stars like these encourage young people venturing into music to assume basic education is irrelevant as long as you make songs and get rich. Anyway, an olodo is an olodo whether famous, rich or not. Kids, please stay in school and go all the way with your education, no one says you can’t mix talent and education. At some point in your career, you’ll be interviewed and you’ll need to answer questions.
