The reason why Jay Z is having marital problems with Beyonce.

When Beyonce dropped "Lemonade" -- her bombshell visual album / story of infidelity and reconciliation -- on April 23, the fact that her husband Jay Z appeared as the accused cheater in the movie component seemed to damn him as the wrongdoer.

Why else would he agree to be in the video, let alone release the album on his own label?

Maybe it's because the pair isn't done sharing the story of their marital struggles through music quite yet.

"Jay is working on an album telling his side of things," a source close to the couple tells Us Weekly in the new issue.

Though Bey's dad, Matthew Knowles, has said the situations and emotions detailed on "Lemonade" are universal rather than personal, that's not how most folks see it.

According to reports, Jay and Bey nearly split in 2014, around the same time TMZ produced a video of Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, attacking him in an elevator after the Met Gala. She was reportedly angry at him over his alleged flirtation with Rachel Roy, though the designer has insisted she did nothing wrong.

"The album says it all. It explains how she and Jay got through their problems. The good outweighed the bad, so she gave him a second chance," another insider assures Us.

The source also maintains the couple's troubles are behind them, telling the mag they're now "better than ever."

That's certainly seemed to be the case since Beyonce launched her Formation tour in Miami on April 27.

During that first performance in Florida, B gave a loving shout-out to Jay, who was in the audience. At her show a few days later, he was spotted dancing backstage with their 4-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

This week, People reported the couple looked "sweet, chill and loving" when they stepped out on May 1 with Beyonce's mom, Tina Knowles, and some friends for pizza at Lucali in Miami, where Jay immediately put his arm around his wife.

None of this explains why they've both been photographed without their wedding ringssince Beyonce's album came out.

But if we've learned anything about these two since they tied the knot eight years ago, it's that they're happy to keep us guessing when it comes to their personal lives ...
